Sold Out Soundset 2014


The annual hip-hop party of all parties, Soundset 2014, is almost here and looking bigger than ever as it sold out days before hand for the first time in seven years. Rhymesayers’ Entertainment molded Sunday of Memorial weekend into Minnesota’s premier festival showcase full of 10 hours of hip-hop purity. This year’s line-up follows the tradition of pairing Minnesota’s best local artists with all-star headliners in a day so full of action you would need a hundred clones of yourself to take it all in.

Ending the first week of sales at # 8 on Billboard’s Top 200 albums with the release of Southsiders, Atmosphere headlines nobodythe show as always after relinquishing their closing duties for the first time last year to Snoop Dogg. 20 million albums sold and 20+ years after the release of Illmatic, Queen’s finest and legendary emcee, Nas makes his first appearance at Soundset.   West Coast rap pioneers and veterans of the festival circuit, Cypress Hill, brings hip’s hops version of Cheech and Chong to Soundset.

The festival incorporates and unites the essential elements of hip-hop and adds a bit of culture and style unique for every kind of head with emceeing from some of the best in the country , b-boy and b-girl battles, DJing from Q-bert, D-Styles, Fundo, D-Mil, Freddy Fresh + more. There will be graff writing/mural done by The Seventh Letter Crew. The Last of The Record Buyers will be featuring a production showcase, flows in the Freestyle Minnesota Cipher, whips in the Seventh Annual Custom Car Show and Soundset will be bringing back the 4th annual Skateboard Showdown.

Wiz Khalifa makes his return to Soundset after sky-rocketing to fame since his performance in 2010. The undeniable and ubiquitous 2-Chainz will take over Soundset, much like the way he did radios and music videos over the past 2 years. After years of group success with The Clipse, G.O.O.D. Music’s Pusha T takes the Soundset stage as solo artist, a favorite of hip-hop purists and party goers alike.

The Grouch and Eligh (of the Living Legends), return to Soundset to bring ample positive energy and precise flows hot off their triple album release The Tortoise and The Crow.  Ab-Soul of Black Hippy and TDE pedigree makes his stop at Soundset following crew members Schoolboy Q last year and Kendrick Lamar in 2012.

Minnesota will be well represented as Lizzo w/ Lazerbeak, Los Nativos, Prof, Toki Wright & Big Cats, Ecid, Dem Atlas and Dosh all will be throwing down.  Brother Ali, Sway Calloway from The Wake Up Show and J.Pratt will be hosting the party of all parties.
